Outlandishly beautiful and cut in all the right places, collage artist Marcelo Monreal takes a peek underneath some familiar faces to reveal what’s blooming inside.
Studying with Rocío Montoya and based out of Santa Catarina, Brazil, Monreal seems to have a special place for the bizarre and the humorous. Carving into the skin of celebrity portraits not only for fun, to reveal their insides are filled to the top with dandelions and tulips. Seeping through the cracks and bursting for light, at some point its hard to believe what you’re looking at. An exhibit going viral and attempting to represent everyone’s hidden inner beauty, Faces [UN]bonded develops a sense of elegance with its blossoming bed of flowers and colorful bouquet of shrubbery. Attracting you to the obvious distortion and fantasies, Monreal can easily describe his work as “morbid with abstracted glamour”. (Hence the popular faces, puzzle piece headshot’s, and red roses.)
Make sure to head over and check out more of his work on Facebook.
Enjoy!
