Since 2001, artist and illustrator David Zinn has cruised the streets of Ann Arbor, Michigan, creating these funny yet temporary cartoon characters with nothing but chalk and charcoal. Improvising each piece to its spot and making use of found objects, street fixtures, and stair-steps to create trompe l’oeil illusions, these little monsters are eye-catching.

In 2014, this counts as my 3rd straight year attending Phoenix Fashion Week’s main event at Talking Stick Resort, and with good success over the years past shows, this year was no different.

For this weeks Featured Artist Friday, instead of finding a different artist or a new exhibit from around the world, I decided to look in my own backyard and find an up-and-coming artist to show everyone. So for today, Augustine Tellez is that artist.

Gentlemen.

First off, I just want to tell you one thing… I understand. The struggle of keeping up with the big name brands and the fashion worlds newest trends is real. I know this. But I’m here to tell you, none of that really matters.

Created on the Granville Island near Vancouver, these gigantic pieces are not only some incredible pieces of artwork, but officially their biggest to date. Covering the entire 70-foot tall structure, these things are massive.

On Thursday September 4th, Artlink’s 16th Annual Juried Exhibition opened up and presented the masterful work of 26 talented artists in downtown Phoenix’s creative space, The Icehouse. (And of course My Boy B was there to see the show.)

Time Slice is an ongoing series of photographs by Richard Silver that explores iconic buildings and monuments and how they change in appearance from day into night. With a combination of 36 photos shot throughout the day and night, Silver then takes all of the layers and puts them together to show the progression of each location. 

So, earlier today as I was cleaning up and peeking around the garage, I stumbled across a box of old notebooks from what looks like my days at ASU (which basically means a bunch of half-used notebooks with scrambled notes, doodles, and plenty of empty pages haha).

In presenting Delivery 2 of its Fall 2014 apparel collection, HUF takes an artfully unique approach this time with Brian Kelley’s photographs rendered in watercolor by NYC-based graffiti artist Seb Gorey. Now this is my cup of tea.

Greatly influenced by pop culture icons and the urban environment, UK street artist JPS brings us some new and fun street art to enjoy.

Vancouver-based artist Fiona Tang and her large-scale murals are some real “beasts” when it comes to making these animals literally jump off the wall.
