Time Slice is an ongoing series of photographs by Richard Silver that explores iconic buildings and monuments and how they change in appearance from day into night. With a combination of 36 photos shot throughout the day and night, Silver then takes all of the layers and puts them together to show the progression of each location.
A similar approach has been seen before by fellow artist Fong Qi Wei, but the focus on a single structure tells an interesting story about each place, and conveys more than just a single shot.
“The idea behind the “Time Sliced” Project was to photograph iconic world buildings at sunset and capture the changing light from day to night in a single image. Experimenting with a few different kinds of processes I came up with the “Sliced” idea. I decided to Slice time and light showing the progression of the day from left to right.” – Richard Silver
