In typical fashion, RAW Artists Phoenix’s most recent showcase Revolution is just another example of the artistic platform RAW looks to expand on in featuring these up and coming artists.
Among the many reasons why I come to these shows, one of the main reasons has to be the fact that some of these artists almost instantly turn me into a fan of their work. In building the creative platform that is MyBoyB.com, I go to a lot of art shows and gallery openings because I truly enjoy being inspired, and talking to these artists and seeing their work continuously does that for me. We have an amazing amount of creative people in this world and I’m glad people are starting to see that.
This night though, I had the pleasure of viewing a couple artists for the first time and was genuinely impressed with a lot of their work. MyNameIsJZ and his hip-hop inspired digital prints were definitely a personal favorite of mine and I easily caught a few people wondering back to check them out a little bit more as well.
But I think the most creative corner of the night has to go to the combination of Gretchen Matta’s Busted Betty Series and the mini-forest created by Director/Photographer Kevin Phipps. Both artists took their display stands to a whole different level and they certainly stood out. From the real life branches forging an entrance into the world of Mr. Phipps and his photography, to the bright and clean-cut illustrations of the troublesome bunch lead by Busted Betty, these two display areas were definitely in the forefront of the upstairs gallery.
Check out the pictures and enjoy the experience. Make sure to look into your local RAW Artist Showcases and support your local artists just like they would support you.
