For Artist and Pianist Angelo Hart, his most recent album Storyteller is an experimental mix of Jazz and Classical music, destined to connect with a focused mind. An instrumental collection of emotions and improv, bouncing around the keys like a brush from Jackson Pollock, it’s difficult to describe the genre of music Hart is making, but not the musical impact. Different from your typical arrangement of blaring mixes jamming multiple instruments into a seamless harmony, this is the story of creating with just one.

A showcase and creative experience that sets the stage for highlighted acts of visual art, poetry performances, and fashion design. A show that connects the local community of artists and represents the root of all great ideas.

Ambitious and better than before, the Square 1 art showcase is back and starting 2016 with a brand new plan. Initiating an entire series of shows happening at the popular Downtown Phoenix venue, MonOrchid Gallery we have the opportunity to not only bring you one show throughout the year, but three! Starting off with a featured spotlight on the Visual Artists and the talent they bring, this is turning into a great way to start things off and bring you to a great experience… Beginning at Square 1.

Far From Dusty

Enjoying the warm days and the cool nights happening now in Phoenix, this small glimpse of springtime is only here for the moment before the heat waves and haboobs come rolling through, so make sure go out and play a little. As of late, I’ve been on the move putting the pieces back together for my series of art and fashion shows called Square 1 (which you’ll hear more about very soon *hint hint*), and my days off starting to be anything but “off.” Meeting with other team members, directors, artists, potential sponsors, I have to dress the part for multiple occasions.

I just wanna make cool stuff with cool people.

The type of people who like to notice things.

From the Art Galleries to the record stores, the Cantinas to the Coffee Shops, Roosevelt Row has always been a place of creativity for myself and the community around it. A place to meet new people and embrace the culture that is building me into one of their own. So to the entire neighborhood and the people who live in it, I just want to say, Big Props to you guys!

For the artists and the enthusiasts looking to come together in a major way, Art Detour 26 laid out the welcome mat and left the door wide open. With over 100 spaces, including working artist studios, unique art spaces, galleries, cultural venues, restaurants and retailers opening their doors for the weekend, the events 26 year anniversary was a 2-day artistic treat for the community.
